The beautiful Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, Frederick, MD, was again the site of a successful Annual Scholarship Dinner Event of the IAD School Association, Inc. The gathering of former students, teachers, parents, and supporters of the Association, as well as the Isaac A. David Sr. Memorial School in Liberia, inspired everyone (from children to adults) to tangibly support the efforts of the IADSA, Inc. (USA) to positively affect change in education in a nation still reeling from the disastrous effects of civil war and a most recent health epidemic.

A warm, yet brilliantly decorated room set the scene for the Gallery Walk, and guests were enamored and amused with the visual displays of life at IADSMS, past and present; and equally delighted by the displays of past events of the Association in the USA. Adding to the excitement was the enchanting raffle item: a luxurious spa basket donated by Suds and Creams (company of alumni family-sudsandcreams.org)

During the courses of a scrumptious meal, former students shared reflections and reminisced about their time at IADSMS. Additonally, guests enjoyed skillful and inspiring musical serenade from special guest artist Matu Saye (www.matusaye.com), and Next Generation performers Lelai and Kumbah Givens. Following a thought-provoking update from IADSMS co-founder, Mrs. Christine T. Norman, with a call to action, the Association unveiled a LIVE launch of three critical projects campaigns necessary for propelling IADSMS to a level where academic excellence and training may be offered to students, teachers, and staff. These campaign projects are: (1) Science Lab, (2) Solar & Electric, and (3) Technology Lab. To donate to these campaigns, please visit www.gofundme.com and enter IADSMS in the search box.

The Association was blessed with another special scholarship, sponsored by Brima and Chantale Wesley-Lamin in honor of their mother, Mrs. Marie Perry Lamin, for her dedicated service to humanity. This brings our special scholarships to 6. These scholarships have supported about 10 students, some of whom have graduated and we are excited to sponsor more students. These special scholarships are in additon to the general assistance offered by the Association. Additionally, 8 of 20 students in need of urgent tuition assistance have been sponsored by guests at the scholarship dinner. We would like commitments for the remaining 13 students. Please contact us if you would like to sponsor a student. The Lamins, who are also authors of The Walk, (an incredibly inspiring autobiography of Brima's experiences a child during the Liberian Civil War), are also donating 10% of profits from each book sold to IADSA. To order a book, please go to: http://wesleylaminbooks.wixsite.com/wlbb and support them and IADSA.

We URGE you to please visit our website iadsainc.org OR email iadschoolassociationusa@gmail.com for information on student sponsorship at IADSMS: creating special scholarships in memory or honor of; OR helping to pay tuition and fees for a needy student; OR donating to IADSA so that we may continue to help provide assistance in all areas to IADSMS.
